Iranian-American journalist Tara Kangarlou has observed that the ongoing conflict has had a profoundly negative impact on Iranians seeking liberty and economic stability.
“The current state of Iran’s civil society is at its most vulnerable, while the ruling Islamic regime has become increasingly entrenched and rigid in its stance,” Kangarlou stated in an interview with Al Jazeera.
She noted that the US administration’s wavering objectives and threats to target critical infrastructure have eroded trust among the Iranian public.
“If you were to ask ordinary Iranians within the country, they would likely express their disillusionment with the notion that military action has ever brought lasting peace, security, and prosperity to the region,” Kangarlou said.
“The Iranian people’s primary concerns revolve around economic hardship and the government’s authoritarian tactics, including corruption and suppression. As a result, they are facing a regime at its most unyielding and oppressive form.”
