Skardu (Bureau Chief) reports that employee absenteeism and irregular working hours in various Gilgit‑Baltistan regional government offices have intensified public problems, prompting strong concern from citizens and petitioners. According to community members, officials and staff often fail to arrive on time, causing severe difficulties for petitioners traveling from remote areas. Residents note that despite a three‑day weekend and only four working days per week in Gilgit‑Baltistan, office systems remain dysfunctional even on working days. Sources say officers and staff are absent during morning hours, with routine activities only beginning after 10 a.m. Subsequent breaks for tea, prayer times, and personal matters further delay services, forcing petitioners to wait for long periods. It has also emerged that some government employees assigned to the Baltistan region are performing duties elsewhere due to political pressure or recommendations, while still receiving regular salaries. This situation raises questions about the administrative management of the offices. Citizens and social groups demand the implementation of a daily monitoring system to ensure attendance and strict legal and departmental action against absent staff. They have called on the Gilgit‑Baltistan Chief Minister, the Governor, and the Chief Secretary to take immediate notice, warning that public hardships will worsen if the government system is not improved. The public asserts that without a transparent and effective system, the performance of government offices cannot improve.
