Islamabad United’s Ace All-Rounder Hits a Century in PSL 11

Faheem Ashraf made history during Islamabad United’s Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) match against Hyderabad Kingsmen at the National Bank Stadium, becoming just the fifth bowler to achieve 100 wickets in the league’s history. The Islamabad United right-arm pacer reached this milestone after claiming two crucial wickets in his 89th PSL appearance, joining an exclusive group consisting of Hasan Ali, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Wahab Riaz, and Shadab Khan. Despite this notable achievement, Islamabad United’s winning streak came to an abrupt end as they fell to Kingsmen. Following their decision to bat first, Islamabad United managed a modest total of 153-9 in their allotted 20 overs. Hyderabad Kingsmen’s captain Marnus Labuschagne’s strategic decision to restrict United’s batting proved effective, as his bowlers kept the opposition’s scoring in check. Devon Conway led the batting charge with 45 off 31 deliveries, including seven fours, while Mark Chapman contributed 42 from 30 balls. Sameer Minhas (22) and Mohammad Faiq (18) were the only other batters to reach double figures. Asif Mehmood, making his debut, impressed with four wickets, while Mohammad Ali and Glenn Maxwell claimed two and one wicket respectively. In response, Kingsmen chased down the 154-run target with ease, securing the win with four wickets in hand and 11 balls to spare. Labuschagne played a pivotal role in the chase, scoring an unbeaten 61 off 53 balls, including six boundaries. He was ably supported by Maaz Sadaqat (30) and Saim Ayub (35), before sharing a crucial unbeaten stand with Maxwell, who scored 21 off just nine deliveries. Islamabad United’s stand-in captain Chris Green and Faheem Ashraf claimed two wickets each, but their efforts ultimately proved insufficient to prevent defeat.
