Fawad Sarwar Takes Aim at Aqib Javed and Mike Hesson Over Pakistan’s Underwhelming Performance

Fawad Sarwar, the owner of the Hyderabad Kingsmen and FKS Group, has come down heavily on Director of High Performance Aqib Javed and Pakistan white-ball head coach Mike Hesson for the national team’s dismal recent performances. Sarwar’s sharp criticism was voiced during a meeting attended by officials from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Pakistan Super League (PSL) management, and franchise owners. He expressed his discontent with Aqib’s public statements on the perceived lack of talent in Pakistan cricket, suggesting that the former fast bowler requires media training to effectively communicate with the press. “Aqib Javed needs to brush up on his media skills,” Sarwar reportedly stated. “If he lacks confidence in his team and complains about the dearth of talent, then why should he point fingers at others?” Sarwar also took aim at Hesson for repeatedly highlighting Pakistan’s poor record without offering concrete solutions to improve the team’s performances. “Mike Hesson has been dwelling on the team’s poor record, but the people in charge are unqualified, and the players have become accustomed to defeat,” he said. Sarwar called for a comprehensive overhaul of the national squad, recommending that eight or nine current players be released and replaced with fresh talent. He warned that Pakistan’s continued struggles at the international level are also harming the PSL’s commercial value and public image, potentially deterring future investors from backing the country’s leading T20 competition. Sarwar urged the PCB to take immediate action to boost the national team’s performances and restore confidence in Pakistan cricket. Meanwhile, the PCB remains undecided on the PSL 12 schedule and the proposed Super Six format, with discussions set to continue in the coming weeks.
