The Home Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan, Director General of the Gilgit-Baltistan Disaster Management Authority (GBDMA), and the Deputy Commissioner Gilgit visited the Ansar Camp bridge site to inspect the ongoing restoration work following the recent flash flood that washed away the bridge and disrupted traffic on the Jaglot–Skardu Road (JSR).
To accelerate the rehabilitation efforts, GBDMA has deployed an excavator from Skardu, while the National Highway Authority (NHA) and the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) have mobilized additional excavators. A wheel loader is also operating at the site, with all relevant departments working around the clock to restore road connectivity as quickly as possible.
During the visit, the officials reviewed the progress of the restoration work and directed all concerned agencies to complete the project at the earliest while strictly adhering to safety standards.
Subject to favorable weather conditions, the Jaglot–Skardu Road is expected to reopen for Light Transport Vehicles (LTVs) within the next 36–48 hours.
