Iftar is derived from the Arabic word Futoor .It is a meal eaten by Muslims in the evening.

Best Meals to eat at Iftar

The best fruit to eat at Iftar is Date. It is Sunnah to eat Date at Iftar. It is narrated by Salman ibn ‘Amir that,

Prophet Muhammad(Peace Be Upon Him) said, “ When one of you breaks his fast, let break it with dates for they are blessed. If it is not available, let break it with water for it is pure.”

Iftar is a mealtime in the evening when Muslims break Roza after listening to Adhan. At this time ‘dua for breaking fast‘ is recited. Moreover, if you recite Iftar dua you will be rewarded by Allah Almighty. Reciting dua for opening fast is Sunnah. Abu Dawood narrated from Mu’aadh ibn Zuhrah, he listened to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) reciting this dua for breaking fast, “Allaahumma laka sumtu wa ala rizqika aftartu”.
