Pakistan’s Strong Ties Complicate US Trust in India, Says International Journal

Pakistan has played a pivotal role in Iran‑US negotiations, while India’s diplomatic activity in regional affairs has remained virtually silent, according to a report by the International Journal cited by Asia Times. The article notes that after establishing excellent relations with Pakistan, the United States finds it increasingly difficult to place confidence in India. It adds that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s discussions with President Donald Trump were limited to oil and supply chain issues, whereas Pakistan’s diplomacy has been actively focused on restoring peace in the region. Since the outbreak of the recent US‑Iran conflict, Pakistan’s political and military leadership has continuously engaged with both American and Iranian officials to promote a cease‑fire. Leaders worldwide, including President Trump and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, have praised Pakistan’s peace‑building efforts. Trump has recently hailed Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir as exemplary figures, while India’s opposition leaders and media have sharply criticized Prime Minister Modi.
