In a thrilling conclusion to the Pakistan Super League (PSL 11), Aaron Hardie etched his name in the history books with a phenomenal all-round display that propelled Peshawar Zalmi to a resounding five-wicket victory over Hyderabad Kingsmen at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. Hardie’s pivotal contribution in the eight-team tournament’s final showdown saw him excel in both bowling and batting, as Zalmi’s skipper Babar Azam opted to field after winning the toss. Hardie spearheaded the bowling attack with an impressive four-wicket haul, conceding just 27 runs in four overs, thereby limiting Kingsmen to a modest 129 in 18 overs. In pursuit of 130, Zalmi faced an early setback as Kingsmen’s pace attack reduced them to 40/4 within four overs. However, Hardie remained steadfast, guiding his team to a triumphant finish. His unbeaten 56 off 39 deliveries, featuring nine boundaries, played a crucial role in Zalmi’s successful chase, which was completed with 28 balls to spare. This outstanding performance marked a historic milestone for Hardie, as he became the first player in T20 franchise league history to take four wickets and score over 50 runs in a final. The 27-year-old Australian all-rounder was awarded the Player of the Final in his inaugural PSL season, describing it as an incredibly successful experience. “It’s been fantastic. I’m grateful to everyone involved, including the players, coaching staff, owners, and directors, for making my PSL debut so memorable,” Hardie said during the post-match presentation. He expressed his appreciation for being part of Peshawar Zalmi and for the opportunity to get to know his teammates, adding that the team had an enjoyable and successful season.
