Turkiye Implements Sizable Hikes in Electricity and Gas Rates

Turkiye has enforced a 25 percent increase in retail electricity prices for residential consumers, attributing the rise to elevated production and distribution expenses. Concurrently, the state-run energy company BOTAS has also introduced a corresponding average price hike of 25 percent for household natural gas. Industrial consumers of natural gas, however, witnessed a 18.61 percent price surge, whereas power plants faced a 19.42 percent increase. Additionally, electricity tariffs were elevated by 17.5 percent for low-voltage users in the public and services sectors, 5.8 percent for medium-voltage industrial consumers, and 24.8 percent for agricultural users.
