Iranian-American Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari has publicly disavowed the reported aerial assault on Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, a renowned institution that has produced a significant number of engineers who have gone on to establish influential tech companies in Silicon Valley.
In a statement on X, Ansari expressed her dismay, asking, “Why would we target a university in a densely populated metropolis like Tehran, home to over 10 million people?”
Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency had previously reported the alleged attack, attributing it to a “US-Israeli operation”, and shared images of what it claimed was the damaged interior of the university’s mosque.
