Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Criticizes Security Council for Inaction

Speaking on behalf of Bahrain, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and Jordan at the Security Council, the Bahraini Foreign Minister delivered a statement expressing disappointment that a proposed resolution had not been adopted.
The countries he represented expressed their deep regret over the council’s inability to take decisive action in response to an egregious breach of international law, which they deemed required swift and resolute intervention.
In his statement, the Foreign Minister noted that his countries had hoped the draft resolution would mark a significant step towards a lasting solution that would safeguard the navigational rights of all nations in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital waterway that, according to international law, should remain free from obstruction by any single country.
