Lebanon Crisis: World Central Kitchen Chef Condemns Conditions as Unbearable

Aline Kamakian, a World Central Kitchen chef stationed in Lebanon, has expressed her deep concern to Al Jazeera about the escalating humanitarian crisis in the region. According to her, the demand for aid from families forced to flee their homes is escalating at an alarming rate.

“The situation is rapidly spiraling out of control,” Kamakian stated, highlighting that Israel’s latest evacuation orders now encompass a significant portion of Beirut. “I’m struggling to envision where these displaced individuals will find refuge,” she added, pointing out that existing shelters are severely overcrowded and inadequately equipped, being nothing more than basic governmental schools.

Kamakian further emphasized the dire living conditions, stating that essential necessities are in short supply and that many people are being forced to endure unsanitary conditions. “This is a recipe for disaster,” she warned.
