Ghizer: Heavy rainfall triggered flash floods in the Yangal and Charroi nullahs of Gupis, causing a significant rise in the Ghizer River and blocking the Gilgit–Shandur Road at Charroi, according to the Gilgit-Baltistan Disaster Management Authority (GBDMA).
Officials said response teams are on the ground in Ghizer, and no casualties have been reported so far. The floodwaters are moving downstream towards Gilgit district, prompting authorities to step up monitoring efforts.
Residents living in low-lying and riverside areas, including Sharot, Henzel, Baseen, Konodas and KIU Khari, have been advised to stay away from riverbanks and relocate to safer areas if necessary.
The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Gilgit, Rescue 1122 and revenue officials have been placed on high alert along the river corridor as authorities continue to monitor the evolving situation.
