Decision to Further Strengthen Wheat Delivery and Monitoring System through FMIS

Gilgit (staff reporter) – Secretary of Food, Gilgit‑Baltistan, Muhammad Azam Khan, received a briefing on the Food Management Information System (FMIS). Director of Food, Gilgit‑Baltistan, Muhammad Jafar, and other officials were also present. The FMIS team provided the Secretary with a detailed overview of monitoring wheat/flour distribution under FMIS, including online dispatch and receipt from PASCO to twenty warehouses in Islamabad and from those warehouses to bulk and sub‑bulk depots in Gilgit‑Baltistan, as well as e‑tracking of transportation vehicles. Secretary Muhammad Azam Khan emphasized that the digitization process must be made stronger and more transparent to ensure better and fair distribution of wheat/flour to the public. He called for securing the consumer data entry procedure and accelerating NADRA verification of newly entered data. He added that wheat delivery from PASCO to all depots should be ensured promptly through FMIS to maintain transparency. He noted that FMIS is a key project for modernizing the Food Department, and all resources should be mobilized for its successful implementation.
