Flooding and Road Conditions – Babusar / Thak / Diamer (Karakoram Highway) Area

  1. MNJ Road and Babusar Area

Due to severe flash flooding in the Thak/Babusar area, the Mansehra–Naran–Jalkhad (MNJ) Road has been completely closed at multiple locations.

The temporary RG Bridge at the Lushi location has been damaged by the intense pressure of floodwaters, bringing traffic to a halt on both sides. To prevent any untoward incidents, traffic has been stopped at the Chilas Zero Point and Thalichi Check Post.

Owing to continuous rainfall, restoration work cannot be initiated tonight.

  1. Other Affected Areas

Nayat Valley Road: Closed due to flooding.

Tehsil Goharbad – Gundalo: The road is closed due to floodwater. The Frontier Works Organization (FWO) has been contacted for restoration efforts.

Altshi Nala Area: The road is closed at several points.

Gas Bala Nala and Yashukal Das: Flash flood reports have been received.

Karakoram Highway (KKH): Closed near Yashukal Das due to heavy debris flow.

  1. Relief Operations and Damages

The National Highway Authority (NHA) and the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) have been informed of the situation.

An excavator is currently operating in Gundalo to restore the road.

Police and magistrates are present in the affected areas and are continuously monitoring the situation.

According to initial reports, the floods have also damaged agricultural land, standing crops, and irrigation water channels.
