Iran’s First Vice President Condemns Trump’s ‘Belligerent’ Tactics Following Alleged Aerial Assault on Sharif University

Iran’s first vice president, Mohammad Reza Aref, has publicly denounced the US for allegedly unleashing a powerful ‘bunker-buster’ bomb on Tehran’s prestigious Sharif University of Technology. Aref expressed his outrage through a post on X, where he described the attack as a manifestation of Trump’s reckless and uninformed actions.

Aref, a Stanford University-educated engineer, emphasized that Iran’s intellectual prowess cannot be reduced to physical structures that can be destroyed by military force. He asserted that the true stronghold of Iranian knowledge lies in the unwavering resolve of the nation’s professors and elite scholars. According to Aref, no act of brutality in history has ever been able to eradicate science from the Iranian people, as it is deeply ingrained in their collective psyche.

The US has yet to issue a statement regarding the alleged strike, which occurred on early Monday morning. Sharif University, often likened to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for its contributions to scientific advancement in Iran, has been the target of previous attacks. Several professors affiliated with the university have been killed, with allegations of their involvement in Iran’s nuclear programme.
