A landslide struck near Astak Nala in Skardu on Saturday, triggering panic among workers and locals amid ongoing road restoration efforts between Istak Nala and Ganji. The incident occurred following recent rains that had already loosened the terrain in the mountainous region.
In a stroke of luck, workers at the site managed to scramble to safety just moments before the hillside gave way—averting what could have easily turned into a major disaster. Fortunately, no casualties or property damage have been reported so far.
Authorities have since urged travelers to avoid non-essential journeys and to exercise extreme caution while passing through mountainous areas, warning that unstable conditions persist and further slides remain a risk.
