Gilgit (Staff Reporter) – Food Secretary Gilgit‑Baltistan Muhammad Azam Khan made a surprise visit to the Food Department’s Directorate Headquarters, the Gilgit Region Directorate, and the Assistant Director’s office in Gilgit. During the tour of various offices, the secretary conducted a detailed review of institutional performance and ongoing projects. Director of Food Gilgit‑Baltistan Muhammad Jafar, Director Gilgit Region Muhammad Afzal, and AD Gilgit Tasneem Kausar briefed the secretary on departmental affairs and all sections. The briefing highlighted the Food Department’s overall performance, wheat supply, delivery system, and current reform measures. The secretary was also introduced to the new Food Management Information System, designed to ensure transparency, efficiency, and real‑time monitoring in food operations. Muhammad Azam Khan instructed officials to deploy all resources to guarantee uninterrupted delivery of quality flour and wheat to the public. He stressed the need for strict action against hoarding and illegal profiteering and said modern technology is essential to make the Food Department’s performance more effective. During the visit he inspected various sectors and directed that transparency in administration and public convenience be top priorities.
