Lahore Qalandars Skipper Seeks Urgent Revamp of Bowling Unit Amid Consecutive Losses in PSL 11

Lahore Qalandars skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi has emphasized the need for his bowling team to elevate their performance following their third consecutive loss in the Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) at the National Bank Stadium. The team’s fortunes took a downturn after their initial success, winning two out of their first three matches. However, their momentum stalled as they shifted to Karachi, with three consecutive losses largely attributed to repeated batting failures. The Lahore Qalandars have been unable to complete their full 20 overs in any of their three matches in Karachi. Shaheen Shah Afridi acknowledged the team’s struggles at the crease but stressed that the bowling unit must take more responsibility, particularly during the middle overs. “We’re currently facing challenges, particularly with our batting in Karachi conditions, but we’re far from being eliminated from the tournament,” Shaheen said during the post-match press conference. “Our bowlers need to step up in the middle overs and secure crucial wickets.” With three consecutive losses, Lahore Qalandars are currently seventh on the points table with just four points. To qualify for the playoffs, they now face a daunting task of winning all four of their remaining matches. Their next fixture is against RawalPindi on Sunday, followed by a second encounter with Quetta Gladiators on Tuesday after a one-day break. Shaheen Shah Afridi described these upcoming matches as a crucial opportunity for the team to bounce back, urging his players to maintain their confidence and focus on a collective team effort. He emphasized that success hinges on the team’s ability to work together and that the players must channel their energy towards winning the remaining matches. He further highlighted that the situation is clear-cut, with four games left and the necessity to win all of them. While acknowledging the difficulty of the task, he stated that the team is prepared to give its maximum effort.
