Pakistan’s inflation climbs to an annual rate of 13.98%

Islamabad: The Federal Bureau of Statistics released its weekly inflation report. According to the bureau, the annual inflation rate rose to 13.98% this week, up from 12.16% the previous week. The report shows price increases for 19 essential items over the past week, while prices for nine items fell and 23 items remained stable. Over the week, potatoes became 3.13% more expensive, bread 0.91%, cooking oil 0.69%, and prices also rose for eggs, mutton, chicken and ghee. In the same period, tomatoes dropped 27.65% and onions 9.35%, and prices for diesel, LPG, flour and sugar also declined. On a weekly basis, inflation fell by 0.33%.
