Pakistani cricket sensation and former captain Babar Azam has once again captured the hearts of his fans by sharing a poignant visual tribute to his remarkable journey from a young ball boy to a world-class cricketer. The Instagram post, featuring a collection of photographs showcasing Babar’s interactions with aspiring cricketers and admirers, has gone viral, with supporters celebrating his remarkable transformation from a humble background to a global cricket icon. The post’s motivational captions, including “My motivation” and “If I can, you all can,” underscore his commitment to the values of perseverance, self-discipline, and unwavering self-belief. Babar’s inspiring story, which has been years in the making, began when he served as a ball boy during the 2007 Test series between Pakistan and South Africa at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. At that time, he would embark on a daily trek of several miles to reach the venue, where he would collect cricket balls along the boundary, drawing inspiration from international stars such as AB de Villiers, as well as Pakistani legends Younis Khan and Inzamam-ul-Haq. Since then, Babar has evolved into one of Pakistan’s most consistent performers across all three formats of the game. His impressive statistics include 145 T20 Internationals, where he has scored 4,596 runs at a strike rate of 128.02, including 39 half-centuries and three centuries. In One-Day Internationals, he has accumulated 6,501 runs in 140 matches at an average of 53.72, with 20 centuries and 37 fifties. In Test cricket, he has scored 4,366 runs in 61 matches, including nine centuries and 30 half-centuries. Babar’s recent achievement of winning his first major trophy as captain is a testament to his growth as a leader, as he led Peshawar Zalmi to victory in the Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) final.
