Iranian media outlets have broadcast a statement from the Revolutionary Guard, attributing today’s assault on petrochemical facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait to a retaliatory measure against US-Israeli airstrikes targeting a bridge in Karaj, a city situated west of Tehran, and petrochemical sectors. According to the statement, this escalation is part of a tit-for-tat response. The Revolutionary Guard has cautioned that if further attacks on civilian targets persist, a second wave of launches will be executed with increased intensity and scope. This warning comes as the 48-hour deadline imposed by Trump draws near, during which he has threatened to strike energy infrastructure and desalination facilities if Tehran fails to open the Strait of Hormuz.
