Skardu (PR) — Following the directive of the Deputy Commissioner/Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority Skardu, an alert has been issued across the district in anticipation of possible rainfall. Meteorological forecasts indicate that intermittent rain is likely over the next few days, prompting the administration to launch emergency measures. According to the details, today, 25 April, Skardu will experience overcast conditions with a gradual increase in rain probability after the afternoon, potentially reaching 85 % by night. On 26 April, the chance of rain is projected at 88 %. Additionally, intermittent showers are expected on 28 and 29 April. In response to the potential weather situation, the district administration has promptly set up a district control room at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Skardu to ensure immediate contact, monitoring, and effective coordination during any emergency. The public is instructed to report any adverse incident immediately to control room number 05815‑920200. All district departments have been ordered to stay on full alert and ensure field staff are available at all times. Department heads have been directed to keep their personnel active and ready to handle emergencies. The police department has also been instructed to keep tourist police checkpoints and the control room operational for swift response. Assistant Commissioners and revenue field staff have been urged to remain on alert and maintain close contact with all relevant departments. The Skardu Communication and Construction Department and the Disaster Management Authority’s field staff and machinery have been placed on standby for emergency deployment to address any road closures or other obstructions promptly. The district administration appeals to the public to take precautionary measures in light of the weather, avoid unnecessary travel, and cooperate with authorities to stay safe from any potential hazards.
