Gilgit (Staff Reporter) – Following special orders from Food Secretary of Gilgit‑Baltistan Muhammad Azam Khan and Food Director Muhammad Jafar, a vigorous campaign has been launched in Nagar district to maintain the quality of food items. Acting on the directive of District Food Controller Nagar, Zohaib Anwar, Food Inspector Mazhar Hussain conducted a detailed inspection of the Shinbar Chilt market, scrutinizing the quality and expiry dates of products across various shops and commercial centers. During the operation, the inspector sternly instructed shopkeepers to cease selling substandard or expired goods and to discourage any practices that jeopardize public health. He emphasized that no compromise will be made on consumer safety, and any vendor found selling prohibited or spoiled items will face the toughest legal action, including heavy fines and possible shop closures. Food officials stated that providing the public with high‑quality, pure food items remains their top priority, and continuous market monitoring will be sustained throughout the district. Inspector Mazhar Hussain urged merchants to maintain strict cleanliness in their premises and to stock only products that meet health standards. The Food Department pledged that such surprise raids will continue without interruption to eradicate non‑compliant items from the market.
