Former provincial minister and senior PPP leader from Gilgit‑Baltistan, Sobia Jabeen Muqaddam, candidate for the assembly from constituency 18 Tangir, said that the Pakistan Peoples Party has emerged in Diamer Division as a strong public force for the first time in history and will achieve notable success in the upcoming elections. She stated that PPP’s top priority is to provide a complete and active divisional setup for Diamer Division, making all government institutions effective. She announced that Tangir and Diril will be made empowered and active districts. She further declared that Thak Niat will be established as a complete and active tehsil, providing modern facilities to improve the lives of the people. Muqaddam said that by granting sub‑division status to Gohraabad, the administrative and judicial system there will be further strengthened, and a sub‑division headquarter hospital equipped with modern facilities will be set up to offer quality medical services locally. She added that, in consultation with the people of Gohraabad, Gunner Farm and Gas Pine/Bala, sub‑division headquarters will be established in Keno Das and Daran Das, creating a new town to promote organized urban development, employment opportunities and modern amenities in the area. She affirmed that the rights of those affected by the Diamer Basha Dam will be fully protected, including fair rehabilitation and timely compensation. The dam’s contingent and contract workers will be regularized, and additional job and skill opportunities will be provided for youth. She said that education, health and infrastructure will be improved, and unfinished development projects will be completed on a priority basis. Practical measures will also be taken for women’s empowerment and social development. Muqaddam said that under the leadership of Advocate Amjad Hussain, a genuine people’s government will be established in Gilgit‑Baltistan that ensures transparency, justice and equitable development. She appealed to the people of Diamer, especially mothers, sisters and youth, to support the Pakistan Peoples Party so that this journey of development and prosperity can succeed.
