PPP Condemns Laptop Distribution During Federal Minister Amir Qamar’s Gilgit‑Baltistan Visit, Calls Election Transparency into Question

Former provincial minister and senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader from Gilgit‑Baltistan, candidate for Provincial Assembly constituency 18 Tangir Diamer, Thobia J. Muqaddam, has denounced Federal Minister Amir Qamar’s recent visit to Baltistan as a blatant violation of the electoral code of conduct. In a forceful statement, Muqaddam said that once the election schedule is implemented, the use of government resources, development announcements, and promotion of public projects must be strictly prohibited. Nevertheless, the distribution of laptops and the unrestricted use of official machinery during the visit not only flout the law but also attack the core principles of a transparent election. Muqaddam called the actions a reprehensible attempt to politicize the electoral process and warned they will not be tolerated. He demanded an immediate and strict notice to the Chief Election Commissioner of Gilgit‑Baltistan and urged impartial action against those responsible to ensure law enforcement. He emphasized that the Election Commission must provide equal opportunities to all political parties, otherwise the credibility of the election will be severely damaged. Muqaddam reaffirmed that the PPP is committed to free, fair, and transparent elections and will not accept any form of rigging, bias, or breach of the code of conduct.
