Climate Emergency Implementation Becomes Inevitable in Pakistan, Says Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar

Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar warned that upsetting nature has led to the current crisis and that implementing a climate emergency in Pakistan is now unavoidable. Speaking at the Breath Pakistan Conference, he highlighted that the climate conditions of the past seventy years are unprecedented in millennia, with vehicle and aircraft emissions polluting the environment. Tarar emphasized that Pakistan lacks political will rather than legislation, noting that plastic bags continue to be used despite a ban. He also pointed out the challenge of reducing reliance on public transport, citing Lahore’s Orange Train as an excellent service, with similar facilities available in other cities.
