Ex-US Diplomat Warns of American Power’s Constraints in the Region

Donald Jensen, a seasoned US diplomat, has expressed concern over the escalating tensions between the US and Iran, citing the unprecedented ferocity of President Trump’s recent threats against the Iranian nation.
“The situation is deeply unsettling,” Jensen stated in an interview with Al Jazeera. “While it’s highly unlikely that any country could eradicate Iran’s rich cultural heritage, the prospect of a US-led assault on the country’s critical infrastructure, particularly its power grid, has grown significantly in the past few hours.”
Jensen pointed out that the US public’s strong opposition to war has created a pressing question: where is the pressure on Trump coming from? He suggested that it may be emanating from Trump’s own mental pressure to fulfill the ambitious objectives he set for the conflict, including dismantling Iran’s nuclear programme.
“It remains uncertain whether Trump will be able to achieve these goals, despite the undeniable capability of the US to disable a nation’s power grid,” Jensen noted. “What we’re witnessing here is a stark demonstration of the limitations of American power in the region, and this reality must now be taken into account.”
