The Hyderabad Kingsmen secured a thrilling two-run victory over Islamabad United in Eliminator 2 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, sending them into the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) final against Peshawar Zalmi. This triumph marked the end of Islamabad United’s campaign, while propelling the tournament debutants into the final showdown on Sunday. With a target of 187, Hyderabad demonstrated remarkable composure in the final over as Hunain Shah delivered an exceptional performance, defending just six runs. United’s chase faltered early on, with Sameer Minhas and Mohsin Riaz falling within the first three overs. Devon Conway and Shadab Khan attempted to rebuild with a 42-run partnership, but Conway’s dismissal for 30 and Shadab’s 22 off 24 deliveries failed to yield significant momentum. Mark Chapman then injected energy into the chase with a rapid 43 off 26 deliveries, while Haider Ali contributed a 16-ball 31. The duo’s 64-run stand briefly put United in control, but even after Chapman’s dismissal, Faheem Ashraf and Chris Green nearly engineered a comeback by smashing 22 runs in the penultimate over, leaving just six runs needed off the final over. However, Hunain maintained his composure under pressure and sealed the result with outstanding death bowling, finishing with two wickets alongside Mohammad Ali. Akif Javed, Hassan Khan, and Saim Ayub claimed one wicket each. Earlier, Hyderabad recovered from a shaky start to post 186/5 after being put in to bat. Saim Ayub and captain Marnus Labuschagne steadied the innings with a 70-run partnership, with Saim making 38 off 27 balls and Labuschagne adding 40 off 32. However, Hyderabad’s momentum stalled at 85/4 after Glenn Maxwell and Labuschagne fell in quick succession. Usman Khan and Kusal Perera then orchestrated a game-changing 101-run partnership for the fifth wicket, propelling Hyderabad beyond the 180-run mark. Usman led the charge with an unbeaten 61 off just 30 balls, striking 10 boundaries, while Perera made 37 off 21 deliveries. Imad Wasim was the most effective bowler for Islamabad, taking 2/16, while Faheem Ashraf, Richard Gleeson, and Chris Green took one wicket each. With this remarkable victory, the Hyderabad Kingsmen now face table-toppers Peshawar Zalmi in the final, with the PSL 11 title on the line.
