RawalPindiz captain Mohammad Rizwan expressed his disappointment at Lahore Qalandars’ elimination from the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) after his team’s crushing defeat to Hyderabad Kingsmen. The RawalPindiz side’s dismal performance against the Kingsmen catapulted Hyderabad into the playoffs, while knocking out the defending champions, Lahore Qalandars, from the tournament. In a post-match interview, Rizwan acknowledged that the outcome had a significant bearing on the playoff standings and revealed that he had personally hoped for Lahore’s qualification. “We can’t help but feel sorry for Lahore, but we were unable to alter the course of events,” Rizwan stated after RawalPindiz were outplayed at the National Stadium. Rizwan also disclosed that he had discussed the situation with Usman Khawaja during a strategic timeout as Hyderabad edged closer to securing the win they needed to surpass Lahore on net run rate. Although RawalPindiz captain conceded that Hyderabad had outperformed them on the day, he recognized that the Kingsmen had earned their place in the next round through a dominant display under pressure. Chasing a substantial 245-run target, RawalPindiz never looked in control and were dismissed for just 136 in 17.1 overs, handing Hyderabad a commanding 108-run victory. Earlier, Hyderabad Kingsmen had amassed 244/6 in their 20 overs, with Glenn Maxwell leading the charge with 70 off 37 deliveries. Usman Khan provided an early boost with 54 off 26, while Kusal Perera remained unbeaten on 50 off 30. In response, Usman Khawaja top-scored for RawalPindiz with an unbeaten 66 off 43 deliveries, while Rizwan and Sam Billings made 23 each. Hunain Shah shone for Hyderabad with 4/22, while Akif Javed claimed three wickets to seal a win that dramatically altered the playoff landscape.
