Lahore Qalandars’ Title Defence Comes to an Abrupt End at the Hands of Hyderabad Kingsmen

A crushing 108-run victory for Hyderabad Kingsmen over RawalPindiz at the National Stadium in Karachi has catapulted them into the playoffs, while simultaneously ending the title defence of Lahore Qalandars in the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11). The triumph propelled Kingsmen to 10 points in 10 matches, securing them the fourth and final playoff spot on net run rate, thereby knocking out Lahore Qalandars despite both teams finishing level on points. Lahore Qalandars had kept their hopes alive with a resounding win over Peshawar Zalmi the previous day, but they required Kingsmen to either suffer a defeat in their final group match or fail to secure a significant win to overtake them. Instead, Hyderabad delivered the exact result they needed. Batting first, Kingsmen amassed an impressive 244/6 in their 20 overs, firmly placing themselves in control of both the match and the qualification equation. Glenn Maxwell spearheaded the charge with a scintillating 70 off 37 deliveries, while Kusal Perera remained unbeaten on 54 and Usman Khan contributed a rapid 50. Their aggressive batting provided Hyderabad with the platform they required, but the job was still far from complete. To surpass Lahore Qalandars, they had to restrict RawalPindiz to 158 or fewer runs. The bowlers responded magnificently, bundling RawalPindiz out for just 136, handing Kingsmen a massive 108-run win and confirming their place in the playoffs. The result also brought an abrupt end to Lahore Qalandars’ title defence. Hyderabad will now feature in Eliminator 1, scheduled to take place at Gaddafi Stadium on April 29. Their opponent will be confirmed after the final league-stage match between Islamabad United and Multan Sultans.
