For the first time in the history of the Pakistan Super League, Pashto commentary will be featured during Peshawar Zalmi’s remaining matches in the ongoing 11th edition of the league. This development is a result of an agreement between Peshawar Zalmi and a private digital platform, which will broadcast the 2017 champions’ remaining PSL 11 matches with Pashto commentary. Peshawar Zalmi is set to play at least two more matches in the eight-team tournament, with their next challenge being a Qualifier against Islamabad United at the National Bank Stadium on Tuesday. If Zalmi emerge victorious in the Qualifier, they will secure a direct spot in the final. Conversely, a loss will see them face the winner of Eliminator 1 between Multan Sultans and Hyderabad Kingsmen in the third playoff to get another chance to reach the final. The PSL 11 final is scheduled to take place at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Sunday. The introduction of Pashto commentary is a significant step towards enhancing fan engagement in the league, building on the success of a separate Urdu commentary feed also introduced in the ongoing edition. In a joint press conference with Walee Technologies’ Ahsan Tahir in February, PSL CEO Salman Naseer revealed plans to increase fan engagement, including the creation of a dedicated Urdu feed.
