RawalPindiz captain Mohammad Rizwan acknowledged his team’s batting shortcomings, crediting Hyderabad Kingsmen’s bowlers for their relentless pressure after RawalPindiz suffered their sixth consecutive defeat in the Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) at the National Bank Stadium. Speaking at the post-match press conference, Rizwan described his team’s batting performance as underwhelming, stating that their plans for the match were not effectively executed on a challenging pitch. He noted that the team had anticipated difficult conditions and had prepared accordingly, aiming for a target of approximately 140 runs. However, a collective batting collapse prevented them from achieving a competitive total. “We were fully aware that the pitch would be tricky; we had thoroughly discussed it in team meetings. Our objective was to push for a target of around 140, which we believed would be competitive, but unfortunately, our batting faltered,” Rizwan said. He also commended the opposition bowlers for their disciplined performance. “You must give credit to their bowlers, who consistently restricted us and kept us to a total of 121,” he added. Rizwan further highlighted his team’s struggle to convert competitive performances into victories. While he acknowledged positives in the bowling department, he emphasized that results remain the key factor in the tournament. “I’m proud of how the bowlers fought to keep the match alive until the very end, but the unfortunate reality is that we still haven’t managed to secure a win. We are doing the work, but we need to translate these close contests into points,” he said. Earlier in the match, Hyderabad Kingsmen delivered a strong all-round performance to secure their third consecutive win after restricting RawalPindiz to 121-9 in 20 overs, having chosen to field first. Sam Billings top-scored for RawalPindiz with 26 off 22 deliveries, including one four and a six, while Yasir Khan contributed 24 off 30 balls with a boundary. Asif Afridi and Rizwan added 15 runs each, while Mubasir Khan and Abdullah Fazal scored 11 apiece. For Kingsmen, Mohammad Ali and Hunain Shah led the bowling attack with three wickets each, while Asif Mehmood and Glenn Maxwell picked up one wicket each. In response, Kingsmen overcame early pressure to chase down the target in the 17th over, losing five wickets. Irfan Niazi anchored the innings with an unbeaten 34 off 29 balls, including three fours and a six. Kusal Perera added 32 off 24 deliveries, while skipper Marnus Labuschagne also contributed 32 runs to guide Hyderabad Kingsmen to victory.
