Severe Load‑Shedding Protest in Chorkah Shigar Forces Road Closure

Residents of Chorkah Shigar, led by religious scholars, staged a fierce protest against the worst electricity load‑shedding in the area. The demonstration forced the main highway to remain closed for the entire day, creating major difficulties for travelers and tourists heading to Upper Shigar. Speaking to the crowd, Imam of Jami Masjid Chorkah Syed Tahah Al‑Mousavi, prominent scholar Syed Muhammad Saeed Al‑Mousavi and other speakers accused the electricity department of injustice, saying the prolonged, unannounced outages have inflicted severe hardship on the public and crippled business activities, even leaving no power to charge mobile phones. They also questioned the performance of the district administration, noting that its presence has had no visible impact. The speakers warned that if immediate measures are not taken to control the load‑shedding, the protest could expand further. Afterwards, Assistant Commissioner Shigar Faisal Hayat Gondal and officials from the electricity department met with the scholars and community representatives. After receiving assurances of effective steps to end the load‑shedding, the demonstrators called off the protest.
