UN Security Council Denounces Fatalities of Indonesian Peacekeepers in Lebanon

In a unified declaration, the 15 UN Security Council members expressed their collective outrage over the tragic loss of three Indonesian peacekeepers serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), condemning the incidents that led to their deaths.
Recent days have seen a series of unfortunate events, including two devastating explosions, impact the UNIFIL contingent in southern Lebanon, occurring amidst the backdrop of ongoing clashes along the Blue Line.
The council extended its sincerest wishes for a swift and complete recovery to those who sustained injuries and honored the unwavering dedication and service of all United Nations peacekeepers who courageously put their lives on the line in pursuit of international peace.
Council members, including the United States, reiterated their unwavering support for UNIFIL and reaffirmed their strong commitment to Lebanon’s sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, and unity.
The statement did not specifically address the Israeli military operation in southern Lebanon or the involvement of Hezbollah, and it refrained from assigning responsibility for the attacks.
