Two years ago, former Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurated Skardu International Airport, but international flights could not be started until then. Granting Skardu International Airport status will attract a significant number of international tourists to Gilgit-Baltistan, as the region boasts five out of the world’s ten largest mountains, all above 8000 meters. For this reason, it is crucial to upgrade Skardu Airport to an all-weather airport, ensuring that planes can land here in all weather conditions.
