As the city gears up to host the second phase of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) at the National Stadium, authorities have unveiled a meticulously crafted traffic plan to minimize disruptions and ensure seamless movement of vehicles during the 22-match extravaganza. The Karachi leg, which kicked off today and will continue until April 28, will feature six double-headers, 10 single fixtures, and the qualifier, with the opening game pitting Hyderabad Kingsmen against Peshawar Zalmi at 7:00PM. According to officials, the traffic plan has been designed to facilitate citizens and prevent congestion around the stadium and key routes used by teams and officials. Enhanced security measures have also been put in place, with all participating teams set to receive VVIP-level protection, backed by a contingent of over 5,000 security personnel. The comprehensive plan encompasses the stadium, airport, hotels, practice venues, team routes, and other sensitive areas, with drone operations banned and sharpshooters positioned at strategic locations. Meanwhile, preparations inside the venue are nearing completion, with eight pitches ready for the Karachi matches, promising high-scoring games with batting-friendly conditions and some assistance for spinners. However, concerns persist over open manholes around the stadium, highlighting the need for improved civic arrangements in surrounding areas. The city’s usual visual build-up is also missing, with major roads and highways lacking welcome banners, hoardings, and player branding. A double-header is scheduled for Thursday, with Lahore Qalandars facing Islamabad United in the first match, followed by Karachi Kings taking on Peshawar Zalmi.
