Maaz Sadaqat, a key player for Hyderabad Kingsmen, believes the Pakistan Super League (PSL) remains a vital stage for young cricketers to showcase their abilities. In an interview with Geo News, Sadaqat reflected on the team’s impressive turnaround in PSL 11, expressing confidence that they can maintain their momentum heading into the final stages of the tournament. “We’ve managed a remarkable comeback, and I’m optimistic that we can sustain this momentum,” he said. “The next three matches are of immense importance to us, particularly with the knockout phase on the horizon.” Despite a sluggish start to the season, Hyderabad Kingsmen have revitalized their chances of securing a top-four finish through a series of improved performances. “Our objective from the outset was to secure a top-four spot,” Sadaqat stated. “Even when results weren’t in our favor, we remained convinced that we could mount a comeback. That conviction remains intact.” When discussing his personal performances, the young batter acknowledged that he hasn’t been entirely satisfied, despite contributing valuable innings, including a score above sixty and a couple of thirties. “I’m not content with my performances,” he said. “The sixty I scored should have been converted into a hundred, and the thirties should have become bigger scores. That’s something I’ve struggled to achieve.” Sadaqat expressed his determination to improve in the remaining matches, aiming to score a hundred and a fifty to help his team secure victories. The youngster also highlighted the challenges he’s faced in converting starts into substantial innings, citing differences in playing conditions, particularly in Karachi. “In the powerplay, I attempt to maximize the field restrictions,” he explained. “However, I soon realized that the Karachi wicket is relatively slow. You can’t play shots freely here like in other venues.” Sadaqat emphasized the value of sharing the dressing room with international players, noting that small technical adjustments have already enhanced his batting. “They offer valuable guidance during practice,” he said. “Recently, I was working on my cover drive, but my shots weren’t finding the right areas.” He was advised to loosen his bottom hand, which immediately improved his shot-making. “These are small but crucial adjustments,” Sadaqat emphasized. Looking ahead, Sadaqat made his ambitions clear: to represent Pakistan in all formats and build a long career at the highest level. “My goal is to play for Pakistan in all three formats, represent my country for a long time, and win matches for the team,” he said.
