Islamabad United catapulted themselves into the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) playoffs with a resounding eight-wicket victory over Hyderabad Kingsmen in the 36th match at Karachi’s National Bank Stadium, producing a result that stands out as one of the most lopsided in league history. The decisive win propelled Islamabad United into the playoffs alongside Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans. Islamabad United initially dismantled Hyderabad’s batting line-up and then effortlessly chased down the modest target, securing the win with a staggering 80 balls to spare. Hyderabad Kingsmen, asked to bat first, suffered a catastrophic collapse, managing a meagre 80 in 15.5 overs, which not only became the lowest total in PSL 11 but also the lowest-ever score at Karachi’s National Bank Stadium. The lone bright spot for Hyderabad was Usman Khan, who remained unbeaten on 25 off 35 deliveries, while Saim Ayub, Kusal Perera, and Asif Mehmood were the only other batters to reach double figures, scoring 12 each. Islamabad United’s bowling was relentless from start to finish, with Richard Gleeson, Imad Wasim, and Shadab Khan claiming three wickets each, while Salman Mirza contributed with one scalp. The total also catapulted Hyderabad Kingsmen onto an unwanted list featuring Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators, who have also suffered low scores in PSL history. In response, Islamabad United lost an early wicket when Devon Conway fell for a duck on the second ball of the innings, but that was the only fleeting moment of hope for Hyderabad. Sameer Minhas and Mohsin Riaz then made light work of the chase, forging a rapid partnership that all but sealed the match. Riaz smashed 42 off 18 deliveries, hitting six fours and two sixes, before falling late in the innings. Minhas stayed unbeaten on 27 off 20, with three fours and a six, while captain Shadab Khan struck the winning boundary on the first ball he faced. The win also holds a record. Islamabad United’s victory with 80 balls remaining now stands as the biggest in PSL history by balls left, surpassing the previous record of 79.
