Petroleum Prices High, Accused of Extra Tax on Public, Protest Threatened

Despite a significant drop in international market prices for petroleum products, the Bureau Chief Sakhdo reported that domestic prices remain unchanged, prompting strong concern from the public who label the situation an additional burden and an unnecessary tax. Citizens argue that the government’s failure to pass on price reductions violates public rights and fuels further inflation. Various public and social groups have demanded an immediate reduction in petroleum product prices to align with global market rates and provide relief. They note that the current price surge in fuel has caused essential goods to multiply in cost, severely affecting ordinary people’s lives. Protesters also called for the termination of free government petrol and diesel supplies to prevent resource waste and ensure transparency. According to them, the prevailing conditions are driving up inflation and unemployment, leading to rising social issues, crime, and other negative trends. Public representatives emphasized that the government’s primary duty is to provide relief, not impose additional burdens, warning that a failure to cut petroleum prices promptly will force the public to protest. They urged the government to set prices according to the international market and deliver immediate relief to ease the inflation burden.
