Details of Women Abduction Cases Submitted to Lahore High Court

IG Punjab submitted details of women abduction cases to the Lahore High Court. According to the report, Punjab registered 105,244 women abduction cases over the past five years, and between January 1 2021 and December 2025, 105,571 women were abducted. A total of 70,773 cases were filed under Section 365. Out of the 105,244 cases, 80,767 were cancelled, and in 77 % of the cases the alleged victims appeared in court and stated they were not abducted. The report notes that in 77 % of the cases women said they went voluntarily for marriage. Currently, 3,864 women abduction cases are under investigation, and 612 women have been recovered, with the report presented to the court. At present, 3,258 women remain unrecovered. In 1,432 cases the complainant named the accused, and investigations are ongoing. Additionally, 1,820 women abduction cases face challenges that are being addressed. The report instructs each district head to evaluate the performance of investigative officers, and strict departmental action will be taken against any investigator found incompetent or negligent.
