Major Food Controller Crackdown in Danyor Seizes Expired Food Items

Glat (Staff Reporter) – The District Food Controller of Gilgit launched a large‑scale operation in Danyor, seizing a massive quantity of expired food products. District Food Controller Mukhtar Ahmed Mir, who took charge of the post, has tightened enforcement to ensure food quality. During the raid, a substantial amount of expired (expired) items were confiscated. Speaking to the media, Mir said he, along with his team, inspected various shops and warehouses in Danyor. They recovered large volumes of expired milk, ghee and other edible items from a truck and several stores. He added that a tip had been received about a suspicious vehicle carrying expired goods; the driver initially fled when the Food Department team arrived, but with the company’s cooperation the vehicle was retrieved and strict legal action is now underway. The District Food Controller emphasized that under the Food Act 2022, anyone endangering public lives will be prosecuted. He warned distributors of companies including Olpers and Nestlé to conduct regular product checks and not compromise public health. Mir noted that this operation is only the beginning and will continue across the entire district. His goal is to guarantee clean, high‑quality, health‑safe food for the public, and the Food Department will not rest until that objective is achieved.
