Gilgit Crackdown on Inflation Mafia: Hotel Seized, Traders Fined

Assistant Commissioner Gilgit (Retd.) Capt. Adel Ali is leading an intensive price‑control campaign across the city, targeting inflation and irregularities. Inspection teams have visited markets, hotels and commercial hubs, sealing a hotel for poor hygiene and imposing fines on several traders who ignored official price lists. Petrol pumps were also scrutinised, with the Assistant Commissioner directing owners to ensure full transparency in fuel measurement during petrol and diesel deliveries. He warned that any violation could attract heavy fines and even jail time. The official emphasized that interference in government operations will not be tolerated and that legal action will be taken indiscriminately against price‑control law violators. Subsequently, the municipal magistrate conveyed the Assistant Commissioner’s orders to the business community, urging wholesale and retail dealers to strictly follow government trading SOPs. These actions, carried out under the special instructions of Deputy Commissioner Gilgit, aim to curb artificial inflation, discourage profiteering and enforce official price lists. As a result, price stability in the city is improving and the public is receiving noticeable relief.
