Iranian Foreign Minister Meets Pakistani Political and Military Leaders, Stresses Diplomacy for Peace

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held separate meetings with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Islamabad. According to diplomatic sources, Araghchi’s first formal meeting with Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir focused on the regional situation and bilateral cooperation. The meeting also included Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and National Security Advisor General Asim Malik, while the Iranian delegation featured Deputy Foreign Minister Gharib Abadi, Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghaddam, and Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baqai.

Diplomatic officials said the talks covered regional security and bilateral cooperation between Iran and Pakistan. Both sides emphasized promoting peace and stability in the region and agreed to further strengthen Pakistan‑Iran relations and security collaboration.

Later, on the social media platform X, Vice‑Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar reported that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi at the Prime Minister’s House for about two hours. The meeting was attended by Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and other senior officials. Dar noted that Sharif highlighted the importance of dialogue and diplomacy for regional peace, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to diplomatic efforts for stability. He added that the discussions included significant exchanges on Pakistan‑Iran relations and the regional situation, with the Prime Minister urging the resolution of issues through negotiations and dialogue.
