Deputy Director of Skardu Agriculture Distributes 48,000 Fruit Saplings to Farmers and Public

Skardu (Bureau Chief) – The Agriculture Department of Skardu is implementing several initiatives to boost agricultural development and support farmers in the Baltistan region. Deputy Director of Agriculture Skardu, Muhammad Reza Hussain Abadi told the media that this year the department has distributed 48,000 fruit saplings to the public and farmers to increase yields and strengthen the local agricultural economy. In addition, nearly 200 small‑scale nurseries have been established for minor farmers, where fruit saplings are supplied under the supervision of agricultural officials, raising awareness at the grassroots level. The Deputy Director also highlighted new community‑level programs aimed at increasing women’s participation in agriculture, offering workshops, seminars and training sessions on modern farming techniques so women can contribute from their homes. Abadi emphasized that Baltistan’s fertile soil, reliable water supply and favorable climate make it ideal for agriculture, but sustained effort is needed for further growth. He urged the public to cooperate with the Agriculture Department to enable more initiatives and stabilize the regional economy.
