Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that, despite the current regional conflict, energy conservation measures and timely actions have averted any energy crisis. Under his leadership, a crucial energy security meeting was held to review Pakistan’s energy needs, conservation initiatives, and future strategy. Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif emphasized that energy security has become a vital component of the nation’s overall planning, and that prompt measures and conservation have prevented a major crisis despite the regional situation. He directed accelerated work on establishing strategic crude oil reserves to meet future demand. Highlighting eco‑friendly policies, he urged a gradual shift of transport to electric vehicles (EVs) and announced that future government purchases will be limited to electric buses and motorcycles. The meeting also called for faster deployment of EV charging stations, easier access to batteries for storing excess solar electricity, and the local production of high‑quality batteries. A briefing revealed that the National Coordination and Management Council (NCMC) monitors the situation daily, that ample petroleum product stocks are available, and that food security remains stable. It was noted that oil and gas companies are increasing domestic production, while two pilot projects are preparing PC‑1 for grid‑level battery storage, and households using solar power are being encouraged to install battery storage. Federal ministers and senior officials, including Musaddaq Masood Malik, Akhter Khan Chamra, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Sardar Owais Laghari, Ataullah Tarar, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Ahsan Iqbal, Privatization Advisor Muhammad Ali, Minister of State Bilal Azhar Qiani, and Special Assistant Haroon Akhtar, participated in the meeting.
