Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said the government is determined to provide better education, skills, employment and business opportunities for young people. A review meeting was held on the progress of ongoing Prime Minister Youth Programme projects and proposals for new initiatives for the coming year. Speaking with participants, Sharif emphasized the government’s resolve to enhance education, skills, jobs and entrepreneurship for youth, and to expand measures that deliver world‑class IT and other sector training. He called on the Higher Education Commission and the Ministry of Information Technology to present a comprehensive action plan aligning university IT curricula with global standards, and directed the Prime Minister Youth Programme to focus on technical and vocational training to secure domestic and overseas job prospects for young people. The Prime Minister instructed the Youth Programme, in cooperation with the Ministry of Industries, to bring various easy‑loan schemes for starting businesses under one umbrella and to provide electric bicycles to low‑income and middle‑class youth. Sharif praised Chairman of the Prime Minister Youth Programme Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan and his team for their performance, and the meeting included a briefing on the performance of ongoing projects. Officials reported that the Digital Youth Hub has registered over 800,000 youth and more than 2,000 institutions, receiving over 4,800 daily applications that are rigorously vetted before acceptance. Under the Prime Minister Youth Business and Agriculture Loans, more than 287,000 youth have received loans worth PKR 122.5 billion on easy terms, creating over 900,000 jobs. Each loan under the scheme is generating three or more new employment opportunities. The briefing also noted that the country’s first Youth and Adolescent Policy and first Youth Employment Policy have been drafted under the Prime Minister’s leadership, along with the establishment of the first National Youth Council and the launch of the Prime Minister Sports and Talent Hunt Programme. Through the Sports and Talent Hunt Programme, 400,000 youth have participated this year, giving underprivileged and middle‑class young people a merit‑based platform to showcase their skills, with several emerging players now featuring in the Pakistan Super League. The meeting also briefed on mixed martial arts, FIFA arena, e‑sports and other initiatives under the Youth Programme.
