Gulf nations call for swift end to conflict, but escalating tensions prevail

Dubai officials are currently evaluating the impact of the attack on the Kuwaiti oil tanker, Al Salmi, which was fully loaded at the time of the incident.
The Kuwaiti Petroleum Company confirmed that the Al Salmi tanker has a massive capacity of 2 billion barrels, and an oil spill could have devastating environmental consequences.
In the past couple of hours, multiple attacks have taken place across the Gulf region. Saudi Arabia reported intercepting eight ballistic missiles, resulting in damage to six houses during the process. In Dubai’s Al Badaa area, four individuals sustained minor injuries.
Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain announced that they had been targeted overnight and successfully intercepted missiles and drones.
US officials, including Rubio, have expressed a preference for a diplomatic approach. However, Rubio also noted that the US and Israel have differing objectives, leaving many to wonder whether the US can rein in Israel and halt the conflict if it achieves its goals.
Every official across the Gulf is urging de-escalation and a swift diplomatic resolution to the conflict, but all signs indicate a further escalation of tensions.
Reports suggest that a potential US ground operation may be underway, and the Houthis in Yemen are reportedly considering closing the Bab al-Mandeb Strait in the Red Sea.
