Albanese to Deliver National Address on Iran Conflict

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is set to make a rare televised address to the nation tonight to outline his government’s stance on the escalating Middle East conflict.
The address is scheduled for 7pm Canberra time (08:00 GMT).
Earlier this week, Albanese expressed his desire for greater clarity from world leaders on the objectives of the ongoing war in Iran. He also announced a temporary reduction in the fuel tax to alleviate the financial burden on motorists.
Finance Minister Jim Chalmers had previously cautioned that the prolonged conflict would have a significant impact on Australia’s economy. “Australia is not a party to this war, yet its citizens are feeling the effects at the petrol pump and beyond,” Chalmers noted.
