Global Economic Consequences of Conflict with Iran Will Persist Even in a Rapid Resolution, IMF Chief Warns

IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva has cautioned that the ongoing conflict with Iran will have far-reaching economic repercussions worldwide, regardless of its swift conclusion.
The International Monetary Fund is poised to revise its forecast for global economic growth downward and increase its inflation outlook, Georgieva revealed to Reuters in a recent statement.
According to Georgieva, the IMF had initially anticipated a modest upgrade to its global growth projection in the absence of war.
However, she emphasized that the current conflict will instead lead to increased prices and reduced economic expansion, even if it were to cease immediately.
Georgieva’s remarks underscore the war’s profound impact on the global economy, which will be a central theme at next week’s IMF Spring Meetings.
